HP Mums Explores Wentworth Falls

We recently took a drive and explored what Wentworth Falls has to offer families. Wentworth Falls is located in the Blue Mountains, about 45 minutes from Richmond, and about 50 mintes drive from Penrith. It’s such a pretty town with so much you can do in a day trip.

Wentworth Falls is known for it’s beautiful waterfall, and we headed to Fletcher’s Lookout to check out the canyon views first. This lookout is suitable for kids of all ages, but has a few steps, so prams are not going to work. It’s so picturesque and a really nice spot to check out.

If you’re more adventurous, you can head down one of the popular walking tracks. We didn’t venture down the tracks as we have littlies, but if you have older kids, this hiking track is perfect! You can walk to the top of the waterfall, or for the more adventurous, head all the way down the many steps to the bottom of the waterfall, and just take it all in. You can take a swim and picnice to have at the waterfall too. Going down is pretty easy we’ve been told, but coming up is a bit of work! Make sure you’re fit and active to get back up all those steps.

For lunch, we stopped at the Grand View Hotel, which is right on the highway. This great place has a bistro and a warm cosy feel, including a fire place. The meals were nice large portions, and such great value for money. They were tasty, a great price, plus they have a bar and a specials board too. We highly recommend this if you like a good pub lunch, and big serves that won’t break the bank.

If the bistro is not your thing, you can pack a picnic lunch and head to the Wentworth Falls Lake. This stunning lake is tucked away in the residential area, is so pretty and worth the few minutes drive. It’s a great place if you want to have a picnic, and just sit and relax. There’s a fantastic kids playground which is a Pirate Ship theme, ensuring the younger kids are occupied for a while! There’s lots of ducks swiming by you can feed, and a large grass area to kick a ball or go for a walk along the edge of the lake. Toilets are only a short walk, however there is no shade (other than a few trees). Parking is free and easily accessible. This is definitley one park you want to visit!

Overall, exploring Wentworth Falls was just amazing, and we highly recommend you take a visit. There’s some little shops you can stop off at on the way to the lake, and support the local stores. It’s a wonderful place to get outdoors and enjoy nature, with lots to do and see.
