Yarramundi is located in the Hawkesbury, about 10 minutes from Richmond, and 20 minutes from Penrith, and has a lot to offer for a family day out.
Yarramundi Reserve is a beautiful nature reserve along the Grose River. There are two entries to the reserve, and the “Southern Entry” side of the reserve is a beautiful spot to take the family. You can go for a trail walk and explore the fresh air, trees and wildlife. There is a cute little bridge the kids will love to explore, and loads of places they can pick up and throw rocks in the river. For the keen walkers there is a great trail which takes about half an hour to walk along the rivers edge, and it’s great to take your dog for a walk too.
If you do want to take your furry mate along, there is a great off the leash doggy area in the second “Northern Entry” entry to the reserve. This is the second entry on the right after the bridge.
If walking isn’t your thing, take a picnic and some camping chairs and have a relaxing lunch, do some fishing, or have a paddle in the shallow water. It’s a great natural swimming spot and you’ll find loads of people here having a swim to cool down in summer, and it has some great shallow areas suitable for kid
There are two undercover picnic tables on the Northern Entry side, and on the Southern side there’s lots of trees for shade to sit under.
Yarramundi Reserve is definitely a great little spot to check out on the weekends.
