HP Mums Explores Tench Reserve

Tench Reserve is a fantastic park area, which has the most stunning views of the Nepean River the whole way along. The playground itself is on the corner of Tench Ave & Jamison Rd, and it’s such a great little playground for the kids. It’s not overly huge, but what is there is great for littlies and primary aged kids. There’s two small slides, a climbing area, a swing, and great play structures in the gardens. For the bigger kids there’s a flying fox.

Toilets are onsite, and easily accessible, and as it’s a open park on the river, you can bring along a picnic and set up for an afternoon of relaxation. There are a few undercover picnic eating areas, a few bench seats, and lots of shade from all the lovely trees if you’re happy to bring some camping chairs or a picnic rug.

The grounds also have a fantastic bike/scooter and walking track too. You can actually walk all the way along and follow the river, and head all the way to the dining complex “East Bank” which like a little hub in the middle of thie beautful reserve. There’s cafe’s, restaurants and lots of great places to dine, or grab some take away hot chip and a few coffees here first, then either drive to walk down to the playground. It’s about a 2 minute drive, but the walk will give you great views along the way!

Overall this park and playground area is really great, family friendly, and suitable if you want to pop in for 1/2 hour, or stay a whole afternoon! It’s so great to wind down, and you really feel relaxed there. With free parking onsite, shade and toilets, you can’t go wrong!
