Slow Cooked Steak Diane Casserole – Recipe

A SIMPLE, EASY TO PREPARE, TASTY MEAL FOR THE FAMILY

I find that I tend to get out the slow cooker mainly in winter, and it’s the best time of year to cook up something hearty and tasty. Instead of frying or BBQing up steak, why not try this yummy Stead Diane Casserole.

Suitable to feed 2 adults, 2 young children (if you have older children (especially hungry boys), add another piece of steak)

Ingredients:
Vegetable Oil
600g (approx 3 pieces) of steak (I used Porterhouse, but Scotch Fillet or Eye Fillet will also be suitablle)
1 TBSP plain flour
1/2 tsp salt
A sprinkle of pepper
1 large onion
2 cloves or garlic or 4 TBSP of minced garlic
1 TBSP tomato paste
3 TBSP Worcesteshire sauce
300ml Beef stock
40ml thickened cream

Instructions:
– Peel onion and dice
– Heat the oil in a large frypan
– Dice up the steak into large chunks
– In a bowl, add in the meat, flour, salt & pepper
– In the frypan, lightly brown the steak on each side (don’t over cook)
– Once browned, add the steak to the slow cooker
– Add in the beef stock, garlic, tomato paste, & worcesteshire sauce
– Stir, and add lid
– Cook on high for 2.5 hours
– After 2.5 hours, add the thickened cream. Stir through, then serve with mash potato & vegetables on the side

The meat will be so tender, and the sauce will be tasty and creamy. This meal is so easy, and full of flavour, even the kids will love it!
